Growing up, my mother always told me “Sarah, you are blessed and highly favored, you are God’s child.” and for a while I didn’t completely understand what that meant. My mom passed away 5 weeks before I graduated college. We had always brainstormed and bounced ideas around for my business together; names, locations, what kind of photos, etc. She was (and still is) my loudest and proudest cheerleader for life! After she passed, it only felt right to honor my mother’s enthusiasm for me and my accomplishments by naming my business after her. Not only because I get to talk about my precious momma, but I also get to talk about Jesus! Even in the toughest trials and tribulations, I get to do what I love and am so passionate about. That is what I think it means to be blessed and highly favored.
I took my first photo when I was 6 years old, in the backyard of my childhood home, while playing soft toss baseball with my family. I wasn’t very good and had a habit of taking blurry pictures of people’s feet because I was too little to hold the camera level long enough to take a good photo. Throughout my younger years, my family traveled a lot. We went on cross-country road trips, making several “educational” stops along the way to see the wonders of God’s creation. I loved these trips. My favorite part was always looking back at the fun, candid family photos we took. I wouldn’t always remember the timeline or the exact moment, but I would hold on to the memory that went with the photo.
The passion behind that feeling is exactly what led me into photography and videography as a career. These days, that means working with small businesses and families — creating photo and video for their websites, their social media, their everyday lives. Whether it’s new media content for a business or a portrait someone’s going to look back on in twenty years, I want it to feel real — not staged, not stiff, just true to whoever’s in front of my camera. I pay close attention to light — where it’s coming from, how it’s hitting someone’s face — because that’s usually what makes a photo feel alive instead of flat.
- AAS in Photography and Media Technologies, Pellissippi State Community College (PSTCC) — plus numerous styled shoots, a 3-month internship at PopFizz Productions, and photography courses at UT.
- Working with TrustThaBeard Media, a veteran-owned and -operated real estate media business, since February 2024.
- Full-time photographer/videographer since July 2024.
- Licensed with an FAA Part 107 sUAS Drone License.
